Bike Works Beach & Sport at Queens’ Marketplace hosts the Lavaman 3.1

Friday, March 30: Bike Works Beach & Sport at Queens’ Marketplace hosts the Lavaman 3.1 Sunset Run throughout Waikoloa Beach Resort – with the start and finish at Queens’ Marketplace. 5:00pm race start time. Solo Sessions:  Jerry Santos.  Singer/songwriter Jerry Santos has been a familiar presence on Hawai‘i’s music scene for almost four decades. He teamed up with Robert Beaumont in 1974 to form Olomana. Jerry was instrumental in creating an easily recognizable musical style, blending Hawaiian music with contemporary rhythms. Haili Men’s Invitational Volleyball Tournament

Daily, March 19 – 24: 
Haili Men’s Invitational Volleyball Tournament.  Now more than a half-century old, this popular sporting event features novice to nationally ranked AA players from around the United States. The five-day tourney is held at the Hilo Civic Auditorium and other locations around Hilo. Big Island International Marathon.  In this annual 26.2-mile marathon and 13.1-mile and 3.1-mile fun runs, participants run the coast of old Hawaii along the Pacific Ocean, through tropical rainforests, past rushing waterfalls and along black lava beaches to finish at the historic Hilo Bay front. Kokua Kailua Hulihe’e Palace Concert Series & Village Stroll

Sunday, March 18: 
Kokua Kailua Hulihe’e Palace Concert Series & Village Stroll.  One Sunday each month from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Ali’i Drive along scenic Kailua Bay in Kailua-Kona becomes a festive pedestrian-only walkway. Enjoy music, artists, merchants and restaurants. At 4:00 p.m., there is a free Hawaiian music concert on the lawn at Hulihe’e Palace. Na Mea Hawai`i Hula Kahiko Performance.  Featuring Halau Na Pua Ha`aheo O Kona with kumu hula Roy Palacat. This outdoor presentation takes place rain or shine at the hula platform located near VAC Gallery.  10:30 a.m. The audience is encouraged to bring sitting mats and sun/rain gear. On the same day, there are hands-on cultural demonstrations from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm at VAC Gallery porch. Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park. All events are free (donations welcome); park entrance fees apply.
