Na Mea Hawai`i Hula Kahiko Performance. Featuring Halau Na Pua Ha`aheo O Kona with kumu hula Roy Palacat. This outdoor presentation takes place rain or shine at the hula platform located near VAC Gallery. 10:30 a.m. The audience is encouraged to bring sitting mats and sun/rain gear. On the same day, there are hands-on cultural demonstrations from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm at VAC Gallery porch. Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park. Pops Menagerie Concert. A sometimes zany, often nostalgic, but always fun-filled trip down memory lane, ‘Pops Menagerie’ is a potpourri kind of event filled with unforgettable Broadway medleys, show tunes, popular period music both past and present, a little classical, and as many and varied stylings as you have time for. This event showcases the Gloryland & Celebration Singers, Kona Festivale Chorale, studio actors and musicians. On Golden Pond. Maui On Stage presents the famous play by Ernest Thompson, at the Historic Iao Theater, 68 N. Market St., Wailuku. The timeless tale of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who spend each summer at their lake shore home on Golden Pond. They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter and her dentist fiancé, who then go off to Europe, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer. 4th Annual Henry Kaleialoha Allen Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival. Honoring one of Hawaii’s Living Legends of Hawaiian Music, Henry Kaleialoha Allen, the festival also features well-known steel players from around the world, Hawaiian cultural enrichment specialists, and guest performers. Allen and other legendary players perform all weekend and participate in classes and presentations that are free and open to all who are interested. 10th Annual Kauai World Challenge
Thursday – Saturday, April 19 – 21:
10th Annual Kauai World Challenge. The 3-day event begins with a “warm up” 10-mile outrigger canoe paddle on Thursday on the North Shore followed by registration and expo on Friday afternoon. Then on Saturday, the main event, the 34-mile coastal relay race begins at Wailua Beach Park. OC1 and OC 2 teams paddle from Wailua Beach to Salt Pond Beach Park with paddler exchanges at specific relay points. The first relay change is at Hanamaulu Beach Park, then on to Kalapaki Bay in front of the Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club. The paddlers perform their final exchange in Waiohai Bay in Poipu where they paddle to the finish at Salt Pond Beach Park. For information call

Kokua Kailua Hulihe’e Palace Concert Series & Village Stroll. One Sunday each month from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Ali’i Drive along scenic Kailua Bay in Kailua-Kona becomes a festive pedestrian-only walkway. Enjoy music, artists, merchants and restaurants.
