First Annual Hawaii Kai Ducky Dash

Tuesday, July 4:  First Annual Hawaii Kai Ducky Dash.  Sponsored by the Hawaii Kai Rotary Club.  Located at the Hawaii Kai Towne Center Shopping Center gazebo (behind Ross), 333 Keahole St., Honolulu.  1 p.m.  Revenue will support scholarships and other worthy causes in the Hawaii Kai community.  Duckys can be “adopted” for a $5 donation at Pacific International Realty Office in Koko Marina Shopping Center, (across from Zippy’s), Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  For information call (808) 781-0419.

Jazz Maui 2013 Featuring Tommy James of the Duke Ellington Orchestra.  The Jazz Maui Festival will feature an evening of world class jazz with performances by award-winning pianist Tommy James, music director of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, the Louisiana based Louis Romanos Quartet (LRQ), featuring original music combining Latin, bebop and New Orleans street-beat rhythms, plus trumpeter Jim Seeley and alto saxophonist Peter Brainin of the Arturo O’Farrill Latin Jazz Orchestra. Hawai`iana Live.  A 45-minute cultural tourism program hosted by Leilehua Yuen. It features live on stage presentations that share the history and traditions of the Hawaiian culture through storytelling, film, music, oli and hula. Topics and films change weekly as the program revolves around the Hawaiian lunar calendar, and surprise guests and musicians often appear.
