Independence Day Celebration at PMRF

Friday, July 3:
Independence Day Celebration at PMRF.  Enjoy food, games and craft booths, music by local musicians, and a heart-pounding fireworks display. Admission is free for this family-oriented event. Attendees can enter the base through the Kokole Point gate (adjacent to the county landfill) on Kaumuali`i Highway beginning at 5 p.m. Free parking will be available on base. Aloha Fridays at Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park. A free hands-on demonstration lesson is given in a cultural craft that varies each week. Slack Key Guitar Concerts. Traditional Hawaiian slack key guitar and `ukulele concerts. The Obon tradition was brought to Hawai`i by Japanese immigrants and evolved into a social and cultural event, as well as a religious custom designed to honor ancestors through an evening of dance, music and merry-making. 60th Annual Makawao Rodeo

Maui

Thursday – Sunday, July 2 – 5:
60th Annual Makawao Rodeo. Thursday & Friday: 9 a.m., free admission -Qualifying Runs, all day. Bull Bash at 7 p.m. on Friday, $15 adults.  Saturday & Sunday: 1 p.m., Rodeo: bull-riding, team-roping, calf-roping, bronc riding, mugging, barrel racing, break-away. Live band after Rodeo on Saturday. Saturday & Sunday rodeo admission is $15 adults, $10 for seniors and students, $5 kids. Free shuttle Saturday to and from town to watch the parade. Every other Thursday in July:
Ke Kani `O Ke Kai. Kick back on the cool, beachfront lawn at the Waikiki Aquarium, 1777 Kalakaua Ave., Honolulu, for an evening of live entertainment and food under the stars.
