Honu by the Sea – The Musical

Honu by the Sea – The Musical.  In this new musical underwater fantasy by Johnson Enos, a Waikiki beachboy wishes on a sea star and is magically transported to the world under the sea, where he meets Honu, the sea turtle of the title, Hula Hoop the octopus, Nalu the toothless tiger shark, and Kapper the sea horse. Colorful costumes, lively choreography, and charming songs enhance the storytelling as this Broadway-style musical provides empowering lessons on the value of friendship and the virtues of saving the ocean environment. Ku Mai Ka Hula

Kanikapila with Wes Awana and Friends.  Kanikapila jam sessions are held on Monday evenings, from 5:30 – 7 p.m. and are open to all musicians.  Bring your own instrument and enjoy ‘garage style’ jamming.  Held in the Great Room of the Admin Building, Volcano Art Center, Niaulani Campus, Volcanoes National Park.  The event is free, however donations are gratefully accepted. Historic Waimea Walking Tour.  Take a 3 hour walk back through time in the place where Captain Cook first landed in Waimea.  Learn about the last King of Kaua`i, the missionaries, and other famous citizens of Waimea and the landmarks they left behind. Kaua`i Marathon & Half Marathon

Sunday, September 6: 
Kaua`i Marathon & Half Marathon.  The Marathons begin in Poipu and run the first 11 miles together. The courses follow the scenic coastline, offering views of beaches, rugged volcanic peaks, and green tropical rain forests. As dawn breaks, runners will experience lush green vistas as they approach the shade of the century old Tunnel of Trees. The course then winds through misty Omao where the half marathon enters Kukuiula Resort offering spectacular ocean views for the last few miles. The full marathon heads out to Lawai before climbing to the top of Kalaheo. The remaining miles are a gradual descent until runners receive a rousing island welcome upon their return to Poipu Beach. Slack Key Guitar Concerts
