Experience this island celebration of the Obon Festival, brought to Hawaii by Japanese immigrants that have evolved into a social and cultural event. The Obon honors ancestors that have passed on with dances and festivals across the island that are held throughout the summer. We invite you to hear stories of Hawaii’s past directly from the people who lived it.
Join missionary Rev. Jonathan Green, historian David Malo, and Lahainaluna superintendent Rev. Lorrin Andrews for an evening of drama, conversation and pupu.

- Doors open at 6 p.m. Performances start at 6:30 p.m.
- There will be three performances occurring simultaneously, and guests with cycle through all three performances, so please plan on a bit of walking during the event.
- This is an outdoor event, so please dress accordingly.
- Free parking is available at the site of the event (Waiola Church).

NTBG Free Weekly Hula Show. Come out the National Tropical Botancial Garden South Shore Visitors Center and experience a traditional hula performance. Halau Ka Lei Mokihana o Leinaala will perform a traditional Hula show highlighting the wahi pane, sacred places, of Kauai along with intriguing stories of the Hawaiian people and their connections with the gardens.
