What began in 2010 as an anniversary commemoration of the death of John Bonham – considered by many to be one of the greatest drummers of all time – Maui’s annual event has grown into a full-fledged rock concert. Celebrate the music of Led Zeppelin with a slew of Maui’s most amazing musicians. Kealii Reichel has been at the forefront in the revival and perpetuation of Hawaiian culture. He is a world-class performer, best-selling recording artist, multiple award-winning kumu hula, prolific composer, renowned chanter, choreographer, dancer, crafter, scholar and teacher. Kealii has cemented his place in the Hawaiian music industry, and in 2011 he was inducted into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame for his achievements in all facets of Hawaiian music, chant and hula and has received 32 Na Hoku Hanohano awards over a musical career spanning 20 years.

Hula Arts At Kilauea: Hula Kahiko. VAC’s Hula Kahiko series continues, Saturday 10:30-11:00 AM. The performance takes place on the kahua hula (hula platform) located near the Volcano Art Center Gallery in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The performance will take place in a one-of-a-kind outdoor setting at the kahua hula (hula platform) in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Audience members are encouraged to bring sun/rain gear and sitting mats. This presentation is free and open to the public and will be presented authentically in an outdoor setting, rain or shine without electronic amplification. National Park entrance fees may apply. These free events are supported in part by Hawaii Tourism through the Community Enrichment Program.
West Hawaii County Band in Concert

West Hawaii County Band in Concert. The West Hawaii County Band, a 20 member wind ensemble, presents a free hour of band music at Hale Halawai Park on Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona. The music will be selected from the band’s library featuring jazz tunes, classic band music, marches, music from the movies and Hawaiian traditional tunes. Free Friday Concerts are presented on the 3rd Friday of every month starting at 6:30pm. The band is comprise of 20+ local musicians from all walks of life and is conducted by Bernaldo Evangalista. Enjoy free music, artists, and friendly merchants for great shopping and delicious dining. At 4pm, there is free Hawaiian entertainment on the lawn at Hulihee Palace honoring Hawaiian royalty. Moon Festival
September 14, 2019:
Moon Festival. Celebrate the Chinese Moon Festival and taste traditional tea and mooncakes in the beautifully decorated Tea Garden. The Tea Master presents the history and traditions of tea, along with tea tasting and moon cakes for sampling and sale. Special moon cakes are available; sweet, round cakes in the shape of the moon. There will also be presentations and displays in the historic Cookhouse. Live Chinese music entertains the attendees, cultural practitioners offer free hands on cultural activities, such as Calligraphy, and a special craft activity for the keiki (children). Wo Hing Museum, Cookhouse and Grounds will be open from 10 am to 9 pm on Friday with free admission. The four days prior to the event, the museum is open 10 am-4 pm with free admission.
Pailolo Challenge 2019

Pailolo Challenge 2019. The Pailolo Challenge is a 26-mile race from DT Fleming Beach, Maui to Kaunakakai, Molokai. Paddlers gather from Hawaii, USA, Canada, Australia and more to test themselves in excellent channel crossing conditions. Since it’s inceptiont he race has caught on and considered to be the most consistent and funnesty canoe race in Hawaii. The Pailolo Challenge is organized and staffed by Hawaiian Canoe Club. The mission of HCC is to perpetuate and preserve the art of Hawaiian canoe paddling by providing an environment rooted in traditional Hawaiian values that promote personal growth, character development, and achievement in physical fitness.
Art Kauai 2019
September 14, 2019 – October 25, 2019:
Art Kauai 2019. The Kauai Society of Artists presents its 34th Annual Art Kauai, the premier juried exhibition of the year. The Juror for 2019 is Tiffany DeEtte Shafto from the Big Island. The finest artists on Kauai will submit work for this popular visual 2d and 3d art exhibition. Artwork may include ceramics, fiber, glass, mixed media, painting, sculpture and wood. The exhibition is free of charge and open to the public. Opening Reception is Friday, Sept 13 from 5-8 pm. Over $2,000 in cash awards will be presented to the top artwork chosen by the Juror. Since 1983, KSA is a non-profit organization supporting fine arts on “The Garden Island”.
