NTBG Free Weekly Hula Show

NTBG Free Weekly Hula Show. Come out the National Tropical Botancial Garden South Shore Visitors Center and experience a traditional hula performance. Halau Ka Lei Mokihana o Leinaala will perform a traditional Hula show highlighting the wahi pane, sacred places, of Kauai along with intriguing stories of the Hawaiian people and their connections with the gardens. Dancers will be accompanied by live Hawaiian music. Plus while you are there take time to enjoy McBryde and Allerton Gardens with tours happening throughout the day.

Hula Mai. McCoy Studio Theater; 7:30 pm Traditional procreation chants and dances often celebrate and encourage the continuation of alii family lines. Hula Mai are often misunderstood and misinterpreted in modern Western contexts. This presentation will look at several chants as poetical expressions as well as exhibit them in hula form. Participating halau include: Pau O Hiiaka, Halau Kamaluokaleihulu, and Halau Na Lei Kaumaka O Uka. Princeville Night Market. The Princeville Night Market brings together Kauai’s finest artisans for an evening of shopping, live music, and food trucks. You’ll find a diverse collection of more than 40 Kauai artisans, ranging from paintings and wood carvings to hot sauce and handmade soap all Made in Hawaii. Enjoy dinner or a sweet treat from the featured food trucks and dessert vendors, and round out the evening by soaking up the sounds of one of our 3 musicians. There are also several restaurant options for those who prefer a sit-down meal. This free and family friendly market is on the second Sunday of every month from 4-8pm at the Princeville Shopping Center.

Keep going north, passing Aliomanu Rd on your right and your next left will be Hokualele Rd, turn left onto Hokualele Rd and the market will be on your left as you turn in. Coming from the North (headed South)Heading South from Kilauea, you will pass Moloa’a Sunrise Fruit Stand on your left. This is about 2.3 miles away from the market.
Taste of the Hawaiian Range Gala and Agriculture Festival

Taste of the Hawaiian Range Gala and Agriculture Festival. The all-day Taste of the Hawaiian Range is Saturday, Sept. 7 at Mana Christian Ohana (Old Kahilu Town Hall) and the adjacent YMCA Minuke Ole Park in Waimea. The 2019 Taste will again offer daytime agricultural-themed activities before culminating with an evening tasting event showcasing locally produced food. Outdoor fun is 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the YMCA Minuke Ole Park behind Parker Ranch Center. Geared for families, the Taste Agriculture Festival includes educational exhibits under the big top and vendors offering products using locally sourced plants and animals. Attendees can view livestock animals provided by 4-H; horseback rides will be available for a nominal fee. Youth can visit the free Keiki Farm Hands tent sponsored by the Hawaii Farm Bureau. Children can pedal their own kid-sized tractor, use tiny farm tools, plant a seed to take home and grow, plus “milk” a hand-painted replica of a Holstein cow. In addition, there will be a display of live chicks and thriving vegetable plants. Admission to the daytime agriculture festival is free as well as the annual Cooking Pasture-Raised Beef 101 demonstration with sampling from 2:30-4 p.m. The ticketed Taste gala is 5:30-7:30 p.m. inside and out of the Old Kahilu Town Hall. We are excited to once again announce the upcoming 2019 Run for Hope 10krun and 5k run/walk non-competitive event to be held on Sunday, Sept. 8. Proceeds from this event benefits cancer research in Hawaii. All the events are being held at Hualalai Resort/Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. Friday, Sept 6 is the annual Taste of Hawaii island, Saturday, Sept 7 is the Hualalai Golf Scramble and Hualalai Tennis Tournament, Sunday, Sept 8 is the Run for Hope 10k run & 5k run/walk.
