Color Festival Hawai`i
Sunday, April 1:
Color Festival Hawai`i. The modern American version of a traditional Holi Festival, celebrated every spring in India. It is a celebration of the victory of good over evil and of the arrival of spring and harvests to come. The event will feature energetic, nonstop, live music for dancing from DJ Boomshot, the Eric Gilliom Band, Shea Butter & The Cream, and the Yum Yum Beasts. Also enjoy special guest performances from singers, actors, and stage celebrities, Teal Wicks and Matt Doyle, all leading to the moment the entire audience participates in the throwing of colors. Enjoy some of Maui’s best food trucks and sweet treats as well. Helpful tips: Wear white so you can leave colorful. Souvenir event T-shirts will be available for purchase at the event or in advance by clicking HERE. Wear comfortable shoes/sandals you don’t mind getting full of colorful powder (The powder is just colored cornstarch and most of it will just blow right off unless you get wet). It is suggested that you wash your clothes right after the festival. Protecting your eyes with sunglasses or goggles is strongly recommended. Bring a dust mask or bandana, especially for those with respiratory issues. Maui Arts & Cultural Center, Events Lawn, One Cameron Way, Kahului. 1 to 5 p.m. For tickets and information call (808) 242-7469 or visit http://www.mauiarts.org/.
