Obon Dance & Festival – Moiliili Hongwanji Mission and Moiliili Summer Fest (8th Annual). MOILIILI SUMMER FEST RETURNS ON JULY 5 & 6.  Celebrate Obon season in historic Moiliili with Honolulu’s largest bon dance and modern street festival  The Moiliili Summer Fest celebrates historic Moiliili and the Obon season at 1110 University Ave., the former Varsity Theatre parking lot and Coyne Street, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  The annual celebration FREE to attend and features a modern street festival alongside Honolulu’s largest Bon Dance. The Moiliili Summer Fest highlights the cultural diversity, history, and businesses of Moiliili. Kamehameha Schools in partnership with the Moiliili Hongwanji Mission and other community organizations including the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii, The Moiliili Community Center, and the Old Town Moiliili Business Association have come together to deliver this lively event for their community. Moiliili Summer Fest is a foodie, shopping and family friendly event destination. In addition to the parking lot of the Varsity building, Food trucks fill Coyne Street between University Avenue and Kaialiu Street.
