Na Mea Hawaii Hula Kahiko Performance

Na Mea Hawaii Hula Kahiko Performance.  Kumu Leilehua Yuen and Manu Josiah present a hula kahiko “informance” at the hula platform, plus cultural/craft demonstrations.  This outdoor presentation takes place rain or shine at the hula platform located near VAC Gallery. The audience is encouraged to bring sitting mat and sun/rain gear. Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park. 3rd Annual World Peace Festival.  In ancient Hawaiian times, Moku Ola, also known as Coconut Island, was a place of healing as well as a place of refuge, and serves well for the setting of the World Peace Festival.  Free performances and keiki activities alongside arts, crafts and international food booths bring the community together to celebrate over a century of peaceful multicultural coexistence on Hawaii Island.  Coconut Island, Hilo.  10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Niaulani Nature Walk.

Niaulani Nature Walk.  Niaulani Nature Walk – Free Guided Rain Forest Tour in Volcano. This one-hour nature walk travels through a lush portion of an old-growth Hawaiian rain forest on an easy, 1/7-mile loop trail. The walk introduces individuals, families, and groups to the native plants and birds of Volcano. Guides focus not only on the biological, ecological, and geological features of the area, but also the cultural usages of flora and fauna by native Hawaiians.
