57th Annual Pu`uhonua `O Honaunau Cultural Festival.
  Celebrate Hawaiian culture at this free, two-day, family-friendly event. There will be dozens of craft demonstrations throughout the two day festival.  Spend a fun filled day at the park and maybe leave with a nose flute, a lei, lauhala bracelet, or another traditional craft item that you may have learned to make at the festival. In order to protect fragile resources and preserve the historic setting, picnicking, coolers and chairs are not allowed in the Royal Grounds. Jazz Night at the Palace Theater

Jazz Night at the Palace Theater. 
The Palace Theater is proud to present Jazz Night at the Palace with music by SOUL ON A ROLL!  The Palace Café will be open with special menu items. Mehana Beer and Wine will be available for purchase. Arrive early, seating is limited. Enjoy jazz from some of Hilo’s finest musicians in the Palace Lobby. Admission is only $10. Hula Kahiko Performance

Hula Kahiko Performance.
Hula halau from across Hawai`i and beyond perform in a one-of-a-kind outdoor setting at the kahua hula (platform) in the Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park, located just a short walking distance from the Volcano Art Gallery in Ka`auea. 10:30 a.m.  Audience members are encouraged to bring sun/rain gear and sitting mat. Held in conjunction with the Hula Kahiko performances, enjoy a display of “Na Mea Hula” (all things hula). Visitors share in a variety of instruments, implements and lei styles that play an integral role in the life of the hula practitioner. Kamehameha Festival – Hilo

Kamehameha Festival – Hilo.
  The festival will feature sweet Hawaiian music and beautiful hula from various artists and hula halau, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be ono (delicious) food, arts & craft vendors. Presented by the Royal Order of Kamehameha, Mamalahoa, the festival is free, open to the public, and remains a drug, alcohol, and tobacco-free event. North Kohala Kamehameha Day Celebration

North Kohala Kamehameha Day Celebration.
  Every June 11th, thousands of people gather on the northern tip of the Big Island of Hawai`i to honor Kamehameha I, the chief who united the Hawaiian Islands in 1795. Lei Draping at the statue of King Kamehameha in Kapa`au (8 a.m.), and a traditional Pa`u Parade (11 a.m.), with horses and riders adorned in flowers and colors representing each Hawaiian Island. The parade will travel from downtown Hawi to Kamehameha Park in Kapa`au. There will also be a Ho`olaule`a (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at Kamehameha Park. Enjoy local food, see masters create traditional arts and crafts, watch beautiful hula dancers and listen to award-winning Hawaiian musicians. Kokua Kailua Hulihe`e Palace Concert Series & Village Stroll. 
Ali`i Drive along scenic Kailua Bay in Kailua-Kona becomes a festive pedestrian-only walkway from 1 to 6 p.m. Enjoy music, artists, merchants and restaurants. At 4 p.m., there is a free Hawaiian music concert on the lawn at Hulihe`e Palace. King Kamehameha Celebration Parade

Saturday, June 9:
King Kamehameha Celebration Parade.
  Adorned in the flowers and colors of the Hawaiian Islands, regal pa`u riders on horseback will represent each of the eight islands, led by their respective princesses and the pa`u queen. The floral parade will also feature hula halau, equestrian units, marching bands, and more. The parade begins at Walua Road and Ali`i Drive at 9 a.m., and travels through Kailua Village to Palani Road past the pier, ending at noon. Niaulani Nature Walk

Niaulani Nature Walk.
  A free, guided rain forest tour in Volcano. This one-hour nature walk travels through a lush portion of an old-growth Hawaiian rain forest on an easy, 1/7-mile loop trail. The walk introduces visitors to the native plants and birds of Volcano. Guides focus on the biological, ecological, and geological features of the area, and the cultural usages of flora and fauna by native Hawaiians.
