Niaulani Nature Walk
Every Monday:
Niaulani Nature Walk. A free, guided rain forest tour in Volcano. This one-hour nature walk travels through a lush portion of an old-growth Hawaiian rain forest on an easy, 1/7-mile loop trail. The walk introduces visitors to the native plants and birds of Volcano. Guides focus on the biological, ecological, and geological features of the area, and the cultural usages of flora and fauna by native Hawaiians. Ka`u Coffee Festival Ho`olaule`a A full day of live music, hula, local food & crafts, keiki activities, educational displays, guided coffee tastings and farm/mill tours headquartered inside and out of the Pahala Community Center, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s a great place to “talk story” with Ka`u coffee growers. The Ka`u Coffee Experience offers Ka`u coffees prepared using a variety of methods by professional baristas from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3:30 p.m. Farm tours with shuttle transport are 9:30 and 11 a.m., plus 12:30, 2 and 3:30 p.m., $20.
