Earth & Ocean Festival.  This festival is designed to showcase and emphasize the unique treasures of Hawai`i Island through active participation in educational booths and activities on coral reef, ocean stewardship and conservation practices in Hawai`i. Learn about traditional Hawaiian cultural practices, environmental programs will be presented in the Surf & Turf Theater, and educational tours will be offered throughout the day. Jerry Douglas with Ledward Kaapana and Mike Kaawa.  Jerry Douglas Headlining the event along with members of The Hawaiian Legends, Ledward Kaapana and Mike Kaawa, who will perform in solo, duo, and trio combinations. The Legends received the prestigious Na Hoku Hanohano Award in 2013 for Music Video/DVD of the year. Jerry Douglas is considered to be the world’s leading dobro player.   The dobro is a resonator guitar that is heard primarily in bluegrass music today but is derived from the Hawaiian lap steel guitar of the 1920s, so it is extremely fitting to have it come home for this incredible event. Lavaman Triathlon – Waikoloa.  The 16th Annual Lavaman Triathlon Festival features an Olympic distance 10K-run, 40K-bike and 1.5K-swim open to individuals and relay teams of all ages and abilities, plus 5-K sunset fun run March 28, Lava Kids Aquathon March 29, health and fitness expo, awards party and beach barbeque.
