Old Koloa Sugar Mill Run. Includes 5-K run and walk and 10-K run. Awards for running, breakfast, Hawaiian music, and more. All proceeds from this event will go toward local scholarships for the University of Hawai`i located at the Kaua`i Community College, and the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA). Poipu Food & Wine Festival – Come for the food, stay for the music. Every Wednesday at The Shops of Kukui’ula, live island music fills the air; fresh, locally-grown fruits, vegetables and coffee, along with spices, jams and cheeses fill farmers’ stands. South shore chefs take the stage at the Wine and Beer Garden to show their skill cooking local specialties. Unique to the November 8th market, Kaua`i Community College (KCC) Culinary Arts Program faculty and students appear as special guests at this weekly market. The culinary demonstration at 5 p.m. will feature KCC students as they prepare tantalizing local specialties utilizing Kaua’i grown ingredients while showcasing their skills. Ha`aheo `O Hawai`i Exhibit. Cleopatra’s Barge was an opulent yacht built in Massachusetts in 1816. It became The Royal Yacht of King Kamehameha II but was wrecked in 1824. It cost about $50,000 to build, and about the same amount for luxury furnishings. Marvel at the opulence of this beautifully crafted ship, whose splendor was breathtaking for its day.
