17th Annual Pilgrimage of Compassion. Celebrate the timeless spiritual vision of a valley long recognized as a healing sanctuary. Grandmaster Riley Lee, world-renowned shakuhachi flutist, will issue a call to the pilgrims of the world. The members of Taiko Kaua`i will add their drumbeats to open the event. There will also be a bonsai exhibit, ikebana and calligraphy demos, bake sale, silent auction, as well as mochi and taro pounding, cultural and culinary demonstrations. Please bring an umbrella and wear comfortable shoes for this hillside walk. Na Pali Challenge

Na Pali Challenge. Each year paddlers from the Hawaiian Islands and abroad gather on Kaua’i for this unique race. It is an opportunity for wahine (women) and kane (men) to come together and race down the enchanting Na Pali Coast. Each team consists of 6 wahine and 6 kane. The two teams take turns in the canoe, making water changes every 30 minutes. The race begins at Hanalei Bay and will end outside Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor. The course is 36 miles long and runs along some of the most beautiful coastline in the world. A colorful and exciting Tahitian cultural festival featuring competitions for solo Tahitian dancing for children and adults from age 4 years to 50+, and group competition in traditional and contemporary Tahitian dancing and drumming. An exciting part of the festival is the audience participation in Tahitian dance and coconut husking contests. An interesting array of Polynesian arts, crafts, jewelry, clothing and food will be sold, with special emphasis on Tahitian products.
