Cleopatra’s Barge was an opulent yacht built in Massachusetts in 1816. It became The Royal Yacht of King Kamehameha II but was wrecked in 1824. It cost about $50,000 to build, and about the same amount for luxury furnishings. Obon Dance & Festival.
  The Obon tradition was brought to Hawai`i by Japanese immigrants and evolved into a social and cultural event, as well as a religious custom designed to honor ancestors through an evening of dance, music and merry-making.  Free.  Festivities and Dance schedules and locations are listed below (subject to change):

Banana Poka Roundup!

Banana Poka Roundup!
  A festive family event for young and old, Banana Poka is an environmental fair that combines education of Kaua`i’s forest environment with good fun and Hawaiian music. There will be environmental exhibits, games for kids, Banana Poka basket making, crafts, drawings, Hawaiian entertainment, snacks, a silent auction, and a crowing contest at noon. Guided tours of the CCC Camp will be available during the noon hour. Free Admission with donations accepted at Koke`e Museum. Limited parking in the Meadow with a short walk up to the camp. Pedal to the Meadow bicycle races

Saturday & Sunday, May 27 & 28:
Pedal to the Meadow bicycle races. 
Three USAC-sanctioned road bicycling races over two days: 8th annual Pedal to the Meadow hill climb from Kekaha to Koke`e on Saturday; followed by the Mana Time Trial and Cycle on the Strip Criterium in Kekaha/Mana on Sunday.
