This concert will ‘Tune your world to Aloha’! Award winning concert artists Doug & Sandy McMaster have 11 CDs to perpetuate the knowledge and experience of the endangered artform of traditional Hawaiian slack key guitar and ukulele. Guided by the kupuna (elders), they have dedicated their lives to continuing the family tradition of slack key music.
The Hanalei community center is easy to find.  In Hanalei, a block past the shopping center, turn towards the mountains at Malolo Rd.  A small Hanalei Community Center sign is on the edge of Waioli Park soccer fields.  Go 20 yards, turn left into the gravel parking area.  The concert is in the brown building – Pohai Aloha (Circle of Aloha).

Accessible and Family Friendly Facility: This facility is accessible to all ages and abilities and is family friendly with nice grassy area, playground, and park for parents to take restless children during the concert and intermission. Birds in the trees around the center contribute to sweet slack key serenade and tradewinds flow through the windows and doors around the center.

Accessible and Family Friendly Facility: All Saints’ is accessible to all ages and abilities.  Family friendly too with a grassy area and lanai for parents to take restless children during the concert and intermission.  Easy in and out with doors open all around the sanctuary space.  Cooling, gentle tradewinds float through the sanctuary throughout the concert. Enjoy a meditating walk around the labyrinth.

Halau Ka Lei Mokihana o Leinaala will perform a traditional Hula show highlighting the wahi pane, sacred places, of Kauai along with intriguing stories of the Hawaiian people and their connections with the gardens. Dancers will be accompanied by live Hawaiian music. Plus while you are there take time to enjoy McBryde and Allerton Gardens with tours happening throughout the day.

Art Kauai 2019

Art Kauai 2019. The Kauai Society of Artists presents its 34th Annual Art Kauai, the premier juried exhibition of the year. The Juror for 2019 is Tiffany DeEtte Shafto from the Big Island. The finest artists on Kauai will submit work for this popular visual 2d and 3d art exhibition. Artwork may include ceramics, fiber, glass, mixed media, painting, sculpture and wood. The exhibition is free of charge and open to the public. Opening Reception is Friday, Sept 13 from 5-8 pm. Over $2,000 in cash awards will be presented to the top artwork chosen by the Juror. Since 1983, KSA is a non-profit organization supporting fine arts on “The Garden Island”.

Princeville Night Market

Princeville Night Market. The Princeville Night Market brings together Kauai’s finest artisans for an evening of shopping, live music, and food trucks. You’ll find a diverse collection of more than 40 Kauai artisans, ranging from paintings and wood carvings to hot sauce and handmade soap all Made in Hawaii. Enjoy dinner or a sweet treat from the featured food trucks and dessert vendors, and round out the evening by soaking up the sounds of one of our 3 musicians. There are also several restaurant options for those who prefer a sit-down meal. This free and family friendly market is on the second Sunday of every month from 4-8pm at the Princeville Shopping Center.

Free Parking and Keiki Friendly Our market has a rotating collection of farmers, food vendors, crafters, makers, and artists every week in addition to our regular vendors. Every market offers a whole new experience and wondrous finds. Come visit us every Sunday to shop local, support Kauai’s farmers and artisans, and to see what’s new at the market.
Directions: Coming from the South (headed North) As you pass through Anahola, Whaler’s General Store will be on your right and Kalalea Juice Hale will be on your left. Keep going north, passing Aliomanu Rd on your right and your next left will be Hokualele Rd, turn left onto Hokualele Rd and the market will be on your left as you turn in. Coming from the North (headed South)Heading South from Kilauea, you will pass Moloa’a Sunrise Fruit Stand on your left. This is about 2.3 miles away from the market.

Tropical Horticulture Garden Work Day

Tropical Horticulture Garden Work Day. The National Tropical Botanical Garden on the South Shore of Kauai is seeking environmental & conservation-minded volunteers to aid in the care and maintenance of our unique living collections.
We offer service options for visiting volunteers in McBryde Garden, which is a veritable botanical ark of tropical flora and home to the largest ex-situ collection of native Hawaiian flora in existence. Submerge yourself in the tropical flora of the vast McBryde Garden as an assistant to our Horticulture staff.
McBryde Garden volunteers experience an adventure under a canopy of tropical plants. If you’re seeking full exposure with nature, while performing light to moderate physical activity, you’re a great fit.
Under the heat of the sun, or the misting light rain, you may be helping maintain one of several trails, exhibit beds, removing weeds, raking, or participate in a mulching day!
Service tasks vary with weather and plant growth. This assignment is perfect for the volunteer who is flexible and willing to help where needed.
Please come prepared for the elements, and bring a refillable water bottle and snacks or lunch. Closed-toe shoes are required (covered shoes – such as a tennis shoe or hiking boot, no strap sandals).
