Hanalei Canoe Club’s Annual Luau. The Canoe Club’s final fundraising event of the paddling season, featuring traditional Hawaiian fare and Hula dancing, local music, fire dancers and a silent auction. Proceeds allow local youth paddlers to attend the Hawaiian State Outrigger Paddling Championships without cost to them. Kilauea Art Night. Discover locally made pottery, wood work, original fine art, jewelry, organic skincare, handmade soaps, wish trees, apparel, chocolates and more. The Obon tradition was brought to Hawai`i by Japanese immigrants and evolved into a social and cultural event, as well as a religious custom designed to honor ancestors through an evening of dance, music and merry-making. Hanalei Canoe Club’s Tahiti Fete. Celebrate Independence Day as part of the Hanalei Canoe Club’s family event on the beach. Visitors and kama’aina are welcomed to take part in the 1/4 mile, 6 man Outrigger Canoe Regatta. Canoes, paddles and experienced steersman will be provided. Medals will be presented to the top three crews in each division. There are special beach programs for the keiki (children), along with snacks, vendors, local music and Tahitian dancing during the day.
