Celebration of the Year of the King Kaumali`i

Sunday, February 15:
Celebration of the Year of the King Kaumali`i. A celebration featuring Makahiki games, guided tours of Pa`ula`ula (traditional name of Russian Fort), a 3-act play depicting important historic events of the King’s life, performances of original music written for the King by local songwriters and hula presentations in his honor. Kaumuali`i posters and t-shirts and ethnic food will be available for sale to raise money for a memorial statue to be erected at the site. All traditional music with songs and stories of the islands, telling the history of this Hawaiian musical art form. Voted 2014 Best Live Show in Hawai`i by Hawai`i Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards. A portion of the proceeds supports the Hale Halawai `Ohana `O Hanalei. Eat Dessert First. An annual Fundraiser for the Zonta Club of Kauai, which provides college scholarships and other community donations. Delicious desserts will be provided by Kauai chefs.
