King Kamehameha Day Parade and Celebration

King Kamehameha Day Parade and Celebration. Fabulous Floral Parade event with traditional Pa`u riders representing each island and Hawaiian organizations in full regalia. Parade starts at the Vidinha Stadium near the airport at 9 a.m., continues up Rice Street to the County’s Historical Building Lawn where there will be entertainment, crafts, demonstrations and lots of food and fun. A Taste of Kilohana. An exclusive, guided food tour that offers a seasonal taste of Kilohana Plantation. Obon Dance & Festival. The Obon tradition was brought to Hawai`i by Japanese immigrants and evolved into a social and cultural event, as well as a religious custom designed to honor ancestors through an evening of dance, music and merry-making. Historic Waimea Walking Tour. Take a 3 hour walk back through time in the place where Captain Cook first landed in Waimea. Learn about the last King of Kaua`i, the missionaries, and other famous citizens of Waimea and the landmarks they left behind.
