Waimea Lighted Christmas Parade

Waimea Lighted Christmas Parade.  Parade starts at 6:15 p.m. Before the parade, spend the day in Waimea. Visit parks, beaches and hiking trails; browse through Waimea’s shops, eat dinner and stay for the entertainment following the parade at Hofgaard Park, with free beverages, baked goods and treats provided by local businesses. Free.  The parade begins at Waimea Canyon Park, goes down Kaumuali`i Hwy to Ala Wai Road, then turns mauka (towards the mountains) to Waimea Road, then back west to end at Hofgaard Park in the center of town. Parking is easier on the Kekaha side of town, so arrive early (by 4 p.m. is recommended). Kauai Community College Symphony Orchestra

A second concert of a series features the Kauai Community College Symphony Orchestra. Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii at 7:00 pm. The Orchestra will be featuring a medley from Tim Burton’s A Nightmare Before Christmas, the popular classical favorite Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel, an “Overture” by Mozart and a charming and festive string piece by Albinoni.  Also on the program will be a medley of holiday tunes.  This concert will be presented on Kauai Community College is the only community college in the University of Hawaii System that has a full instrumental music program. All three ensembles serve musicians of all ages which include students in middle school, high school and college.  Ensemble members also include working professionals and retirees, the oldest who is 92 years old. The Kauai Community College Instrumental Music Ensembles their 2013 Winter Concert Series

Saturday December 7:  
The Kauai Community College Instrumental Music Ensembles their  2013 Winter Concert Series. Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii: at 7:00pm. The series begins with the Kauai Community College Jazz Ensemble and the Kauai Community College Wind Symphony presenting their programs on The Jazz Ensemble will feature tunes by Thad Jones and the Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra.  Kaua‘i Community College’s own Peggy Lake will be featured as the Jazz Vocalist for the evening.  The Wind Symphony will be feature music ranging from selections from Disney’s The Lion King, the classic march Semper Fidelis, by John Philip Souza, and some holiday favorites. Admission is free,  but donations are accepted at the door. All donations will help continue this unique program. 4th Annual Waipa Kalo Festival

4th Annual Waipa Kalo Festival.  A fun and informative day celebrating kalo with activities for the whole family including educational displays and demonstrations, hands-on keiki activities, unique Kauai artisans, and, of course, amazing food showcasing kalo. Community contests for best kalo recipe, biggest kalo and keiki art.
