Multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Award Winner Kainani Kahaunaele is one of the most notable talents of her generation. She was raised by her grandparents in a rural community on Kaua’i surrounded by four generations of musical talent. Her love for Hawaiian music was infused at an early age, playing ‘ukulele and harmonizing with the Kahaunaele, Panui and Kaluahine families. In 2011, Kainani won the Hawaiian Language Performance award and Haku Mele composer award for songs on her second album, ‘Ohai Ula.
