Maui Humane Society’s Beach Buddies Visitor Program

Maui Humane Society’s Beach Buddies Visitor Program.
Do you miss having a dog to spend your day with? Visitors and residents can sign up to take a homeless dog out for the day from the Maui Humane Society animal shelter. The shelter is easy to find as it is conveniently located in Pu`unene (central Maui) on Mokulele Hwy., between Kihei/Wailea and Kahului. Program participants will pick “their dog” up at 10 a.m. and bring them back no later than 3 p.m. MHS provides all the supplies, you just provide the fun! The Big Game @ the MACC

The Big Game @ the MACC.  Watch the game indoors on the huge screen in Castle Theater, outside in the Pavilion on a high-tech LED screen, or both; mix & mingle.  Why shop for snacks? Why cook? Why clean up? Come to the MACC and leave the hassle behind. Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta

Saturday, February 2: 
Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta.  A fast-moving watercourse featuring miniature whales and will take place after the Run & Walk for Whales event. You can enter one or more whales to race in your name (or as a gift entry) for a chance to win fabulous prizes. All entries must be received by January 26, 2019. Donations benefit Pacific Whale Foundation’s mission to protect the ocean through science and advocacy and to inspire environmental stewardship.  Grand Prize winner will receive free roundtrip airfare for two to Maui from the U.S. mainland or Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. Hawai`i residents can choose a trip for two to the mainland or a trip for 4 to a neighbor island. There are other great prizes for second and third place winners. Run & Walk for Whales

Run & Walk for Whales.  Kicking off the 39th annual Maui Whale Festival, Pacific Whale Foundation’s annual Run & Walk for Whales is one of Maui’s largest and most scenic run and walking events. With newly designed courses safer than ever, people of all abilities and ages are encouraged to join in this fun and rewarding event. Choose from a 1 mile, 5K, 10K, or 10 mile course. The event includes a free continental breakfast, door prizes, post-race entertainment with Marty Dread and a Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta. All proceeds benefit non-profit Pacific Whale Foundation’s mission to protect the ocean through science and advocacy. Online registration will close at 11:59 pm (Hawaiian-Aleutian time) on January 30, 2019, so register today at www.mauiwhalefestival.org/runwalk. Artist 2 Artist: Henry Kapono & Robi Kahakalau.  Henry Kapono is a performer who has it all – vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, composer, thrilling performer, audience favorite, and multiple honors and awards, including a Grammy nomination. He has taken home numerous Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, including Male Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year, Single of the Year, and Album & Rock Album of the Year.  Hawaiian singer/guitarist and Na Hoku Hanohano award-winner Robi Kahakalau mixes the sounds of her native islands with elements of reggae, pop, singer/songwriter, folk, and rock balladry, plus the occasional touch of jazz and R&B. Not only that, her linguistic skills are as eclectic as her musical tastes; she’s fluent in English, French, Hawaiian, and Tahitian, and all four tongues show up on her recordings.
