Nani Na Pua. An opera on the early life of Queen Liliuokalani, from birth until she became queen, focusing on her life as a youth and as heir apparent. Featuring historical information about her birth and family including her famous musical siblings, her education at the Chief’s Children’s School, her travels throughout the Hawaiian Islands and her trip to Queen Victoria’s of England Jubilee. Performers are youth, grades 4-12 primarily, with pre performances by students grades K-4. Many melodies incorporated into the opera will be adapted from the compositions of Liliuokalani.
