Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Concert

Maui Humane Society’s Beach Buddies Visitor Program

Maui Humane Society’s Beach Buddies Visitor Program.
Do you miss having a dog to spend your day with? Visitors and residents can sign up to take a homeless dog out for the day from the Maui Humane Society animal shelter. The shelter is easy to find as it is conveniently located in Pu`unene (central Maui) on Mokulele Hwy., between Kihei/Wailea and Kahului. Program participants will pick “their dog” up at 10 a.m. and bring them back no later than 3 p.m. MHS provides all of the supplies, you just provide the fun! Damian Marley & J Boog.
  Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley is a Jamaican reggae artist and the youngest son of iconic reggae musician Bob Marley. Damian was two years old when his father died.  He is the only child born to Marley and Cindy Breakspeare, Miss World 1976. Damian’s nickname, “Junior Gong,” is derived from his father’s nickname, Tuff Gong.  J Boog is a singer who fuses reggae with R&B, hip hop, and rock. He was born in Long Beach, California, but primarily raised in Compton. Of Samoan ancestry (his father was a tribal chief in his neighborhood), Boog’s first influence was his sister, who sang and played piano.   There will be live entertainment all day, including Kanekoa (recent Hoku Hanohano aware recipient), the halau of Kumu Maka`ala Palmore, Joel Katz, Jamie Lawerence, Brian & Meryl, and Soul Kitchen. There will be ono local food available for purchase, homemade baked goods, fresh Kula produce, flowers, plants, gifts, crafters, silent auction, a quilt show and children’s games.   The competition showcasing Hawai`i’s finest amateur male falsetto performers. Contestants belt their most exquisite high-register voices in hopes of capturing the title of champion.
