Xterra World Championship.  Grand finale of the Xterra World Tour of off-road triathlon qualifying events held February-September, 2015 in 32 countries. The sport of Xterra has been recognized by the International Triathlon Union as “Cross Triathlon” and has the potential to become an Olympic Sport. Halloween on Front Street

Saturday, October 31: 
Halloween on Front Street.  Lahaina blocks off Front Street to cars for the biggest Halloween celebration in Hawai`i. Festivities will begin on Front Street with the Annual Keiki Halloween Costume Parade at 4:30 p.m. Following the parade, many shops and restaurants along Front Street will celebrate the night with music, food, costume contests, and a host of activities.  Plan to arrive before 3p.m. for parking.  Parking lots are accessible from Dickenson Street only to Luakini Street. Mahina`ai Night.  Join a torch lit guided tour of a walking trail while learning about Kaho`olawe. Then, gather in the KIRC’s Kalamalama traditional hale, where historical artifacts from Kaho`olawe will be on display, and enjoy live entertainment provided by University of Hawai`i Maui College’s Institute of Hawaiian Music. Cocktail hour features a host bar from 5:30-6:30 p.m., followed by live entertainment and a dinner prepared by the Grand Wailea’s team of experts. Helping Paws Visitor Volunteer Program

Every Wednesday and Thursday: 
Helping Paws Visitor Volunteer Program.  Do you miss your pet when traveling? Visitors can offer a “helping paw” to homeless animals at the Maui Humane Society shelter, located in Pu`unene (central Maui), on Mokulele Hwy. between Kihei and Kahului. 1 to 3 p.m. Help with such activities as walking dogs, bathing puppies, brushing cats, or playing with puppies and kittens. Arrive by 1 p.m. and wear close-toed shoes and comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. For Maui visitors only.  Children age 10 to 17 are welcome when accompanied by a supervising adult for the duration.
