`O Ke Kai Series at Outrigger Reef on the Beach. The `O Ke Kai Series supports the continuing efforts of the friends of Hokulea and Hawai`iloa to ensure the traditional Hawaiian canoe building and restoration skills are passed on to future generations. The Hawai`iloa canoe was pulled from the water due to damage from termites and exposure to the elements and is currently housed in pieces. Free and open to the public. This colorful celebration honors the reign of King Kamehameha, who was responsible for uniting the Hawaiian Islands under his rule in 1795.
