Nutcracker performances with a unique historical theme. Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet will be set in the 1858 Kingdom of Hawai`i. Guest artists Megan Fairchild and Joaquin DeLuz from New York City Ballet and Lesley Rausch and Lucien Postlewaite from Pacific Northwest Ballet. The impressive cast of over 175 dancers will be accompanied by The Hawai`i Symphony Orchestra. Enjoy a well-deserved break from the hustle and bustle of the holidays with the Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra (HSO) at its annual Holiday Pops concert, part of its music that POPS series, featuring Grammy-nominated vocalist Amy Hanai`ali`i.  The 18-time Na Hoku Hanohano award winner will fill the stage with song, hula and holiday joy as she joins the HSO for the first time singing songs from her Na Hoku award-winning Christmas Album, A Hawaiian Christmas. Blackened Canteen Ceremony

Blackened Canteen Ceremony.
Dr. Hiroya Sugano, Director General 3 of the Zero Fighter Admirers’ Club, comes from Japan to conduct this annual commemoration of peace and reconciliation ceremony with a silent prayer and pouring bourbon whisky from a WWII blackened canteen into the water from the USS Arizona Memorial as an offering to the spirits of the fallen. For reservations call (808) 282-6570; first come first served.  Following the Ceremony will be a youth symposium, held in the Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor Theater.  The Symposium will highlight the story and lessons of the ceremony, commemorating the friendship, honor and reconciliation borne out of the horror of WWII.
