Ha`aheo `O Hawai`i Exhibit. Cleopatra’s Barge was an opulent yacht built in Massachusetts in 1816. It became The Royal Yacht of King Kamehameha II but was wrecked in 1824. It cost about $50,000 to build, and about the same amount for luxury furnishings. Marvel at the opulence of this beautifully crafted ship, whose splendor was breathtaking for its day. This 90- minute documentary features interviews with 36 WWII veterans and focuses on more than a dozen Pearl Harbor survivors and eye-witnesses, including Mitsuo Fuchida, the Japanese pilot who led the attack on Pearl Harbor. Narrated by actor Tom Selleck. Attendees can meet USS Arizona survivors and Iwo Jima Medal of Honor recipient Woody Williams, who are expected to attend the screening. Honolulu City Lights Opening Night Festivities
Saturday, December 3:
Honolulu City Lights Opening Night Festivities. Food booths and keiki rides open at 4 p.m. The Electric Light Parade leaves A`ala Park and proceeds down King Street to Honolulu Hale at 6 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., a 55-foot Norfolk tree is illuminated, triggering the “Corridor of Lights” down King and Punchbowl streets. Decorated trees and wreath displays open in Honolulu Hale Courtyard, Santa visits with children in the Mission Memorial Auditorium. The Electric Light Parade will pass by Honolulu Hale after traveling through Chinatown. The opening night also includes a free, star-studded holiday concert near the Sky Gate. Honolulu Hale, 530 S.
