Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony – Castle Medical Center

Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony – Castle Medical Center.  Enjoy colorful decorations, bright lights, holiday concerts and trolley rides.  At 6:15 p.m., enjoy a pre-ceremony Christmas concert by the Marine Forces Pacific Band. At 7 p.m. the formal ceremony that includes special music, the lighting of the tree and the arrival of Santa. 7:30 p.m., a special holiday concert by multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner – Weldon Kekauoha. Activities for the children, with free popcorn, Christmas cookies and beverages (while they last). Waikiki Holiday Parade

Waikiki Holiday Parade.  Since 1998, the Waikiki Holiday Parade commemorates Pearl Harbor Survivors and the anniversary of the attacks. Thousands of spectators, residents and visitors gather on the Friday after Thanksgiving to watch this non-competitive parade, which hosts local bands, marching bands from the mainland, Pearl Harbor Survivors, service bands, military units, local officials, dignitaries and entertainers. Surf Art and the Surfer Art Festival

Surf Art and the Surfer Art Festival.  This event will consist of art galleries, live music, live art, food trucks, local vendors, and a family fun environment.  Surfing The Nations (STN) strongly believes in using art and surfing as a medium to change communities and bring people together. This organization is currently constructing a new community center that will offer several educational services to the kids and young adults in the area.  The center will become a place where children will have the chance to ignite their dreams and passions. Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.  Known as the longest running and most prestigious surf event in history, the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing is comprised of three jewels – the Hawaiian Pro, Vans World Cup of Surfing and Billabong Pipe Masters. Showcasing the endurance and versatility of approximately 170 surfers, watch as the world’s best fight for points, money and glory at the world’s most elite waves. 3 events, 39 days. Total prize purse: $1,150,000; $50,000 bonus for VTCS champion. Competition takes place on the biggest and best 4 days of surf. Admission is free. Laieikawai: Princess of Paliuli – A Youth Opera

Laieikawai:  Princess of Paliuli – A Youth Opera.  This youth opera based on the Hawai`i Island Legend of the same name was commissioned in 1995 by the Hawai`i Youth Opera Chorus. And is celebrating its 20th Anniversary. It will be performed by 125, all singing member, students of the Hawai`i Youth Opera Chorus grades K – 12. This English language, family friendly version is appropriate for all ages. Set in a 1940’s big band music style.
