Saturday, February 8:  Hilo Chinese New Year Festival – the Year of the Horse. Chinese lion dancers will roam the town, chasing evil spirits with firecrackers and blessing businesses from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Festival is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with more lion dancing, martial arts and calligraphy demonstrations, crafts, food booths, a keiki (child) fashion show, and food tastings prepared by culinary arts students.
