DESCRIPTION:Friday & Saturday\, April 11 & 12:  \nKauai Orchid and Art Festival.  Plein air painters set up around the town\, so there are artists outside painting throughout the weekend. On Saturday\, there will be a stage show with Taiko drumming\, a crowing contest for kids of all ages\, and a concert featuring a variety of slack key musicians. The crowning point of the event is a free concert from Makana. Enjoy several art workshops\, including watercolor painting\, as well as children’s art activities and other events for keiki. There’s a craft fair and silent auction at the church next to the stage. Food vendors set up throughout the town\, and shops and galleries are open on Saturday as well. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 12:  \nEarth & Ocean Festival.  This festival is designed to showcase and emphasize the unique treasures of Hawai`i Island through active participation in educational booths and activities on coral reef\, ocean stewardship and conservation practices in Hawai`i. Learn about traditional Hawaiian cultural practices\, environmental programs will be presented in the Surf & Turf Theater\, and educational tours will be offered throughout the day. Enjoy locally made and sourced food. Entertainment throughout the day with hula\, music and The Hiccup Circus. Free Weldon Kekauoha concert will close the Festival\, starting at 3 p.m.  10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Makaeo Pavilion\, Old Kona Airport. Free admission.
