DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 13: \nHula Kahiko Performance. Hula halau from across Hawai`i and beyond perform in a one-of-a-kind outdoor setting at the kahua hula (platform) in the Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park\, located just a short walking distance from the Volcano Art Gallery in Ka`auea. 10:30 a.m.  Audience members are encouraged to bring sun/rain gear and sitting mat. Event is free\, park fees apply. Date is subject to change; to confirm dates\, call (808) 987-7288. Held in conjunction with the Hula Kahiko performances\, enjoy a display of “Na Mea Hula” (all things hula). Visitors share in a variety of instruments\, implements and lei styles that play an integral role in the life of the hula practitioner. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 13: \nLaupahoehoe Music Festival. The 2019 Laupahoehoe Music Festival will feature performances by LCPCS Ensemble\, Ukulele\, Rap Bands\, Kanaka Tree\, Brown Boyz. Hoku Pa`a with Darlene Ahuna\, Blended Rootz featuring Lopaka Rootz\, and Priscilla Momah.  There will be many other fun things to do during the event. Free poi pounding\, free lei making and a free bounce house. Carnival-style games\, face painting\, and a photo booth will be available for a small fee. Vendors with crafts\, clothing\, and jewelry will be on site. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 13:\nColor Festival Hawai`i.  The modern American version of a traditional Holi Festival celebrated every spring in India. It is a celebration of the victory of good over evil and of the arrival of spring and harvests to come. In the spirit of inclusion\, celebrating the beauty of diversity and the uniqueness of each and every child\, this spectacular and colorful event will feature energetic\, nonstop\, live music for dancing from headliner Rayland Baxter of Nashville TN\, DJ Boomshot\, Anuhea\, and Yum Yum Beast; all leading to the throwing of colors! Fun for the whole family. Helpful tips: Wear white so you can leave colorful. Souvenir event T-shirts will be available for purchase at the event or in advance by clicking HERE. Wear comfortable shoes/sandals you don’t mind getting full of colorful powder (The powder is just colored cornstarch and most of it will just blow right off unless you get wet). Suggest you wash your clothes right after the festival. Protecting your eyes with sunglasses or goggles is strongly recommended. Bring a dust mask or bandana\, especially for those with respiratory issues. Bring plastic bags for your dusted clothes or to cover your car seat after event.
