DESCRIPTION:February 11\, 2020:\nShimmy On Down To The 51st Annual Senior Valentine Dance! Everyone is invited to get on up and boogie down with our energetic kupuna club members during their 51st Senior Valentine Dance sponsored by the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). The fun-filled\, annual event is scheduled for Tuesday\, Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. It is free and open to the public\, but parking rates may still apply. This year’s theme of “Love Will Keep Us Together” will be felt throughout the exhibition hall as hundreds of members from 32 DPR senior clubs island-wide dance throughout the morning. A live performance from the Royal Hawaiian Band will kick-off the event\, followed by special appearances from Mayor Kirk Caldwell\, members of his cabinet\, city employees\, newscasters\, athletes and local celebrities. Mahalo to Bank of Hawaii\, the numerous contributing organizations\, and volunteers who continue to support this annual event. We’ll see you at the dance!

DESCRIPTION:February 11\, 2020:\nDance Workshop with Leela Dance Collective. Join Leela Dance Collective members from the cast of SPEAK: Tap & Kathak Unite for a special dance workshop. Participants will have the unique opportunity to experience the different rhythmic elements of two distinct traditional dance forms: kathak\, classical dance from Northern India and tap\, America’s classic dance form. Open to participants at all dance levels age 15+. Please dress comfortably. Tap shoes not required. COST: $10 nonrefundable registration fee. Registered attendees for this workshop will have access to a $5 discount towards the purchase of a ticket to the Leela Dance Collective show on Wednesday\, February 12. Discounted performance tickets are available exclusively through the box office in person\, or via phone.
