Prince Kuhio Festivals around the state will be held in the month of March to honor our Ke Alii Makaainana for his love and passion of the Hawaiian people. The Prince Kuhio Festival will feature Hawaiian Civic Clubs\, the Hawaiian Royal Societies\, Hawaiian Homestead Associations\, halau hula\, cultural practitioners\, Hawaiian serving institutions\, Hawaiian musical groups\, Hawaiian schools\, and Hawaiian entertainers who will deliver a family-friendly immersion in various Hawaiian cultural activities open to the public. The event will have at least 4 interactive and learning activities for the ohana\, for example\, a new kaleka manu game\, trivia about the Prince\, aloha aina patriot button making\, etc. The event will also include food vendors\, entertainment and honoring of leaders in the Anahola community who are perpetuating Prince Kuhioʻs vision.

Jake has been at the forefront of the reinvention of the ukulele\, and includes elements of jazz\, blues\, rock\, pop\, classical\, and flamenco in his playing. Now a worldwide star\, his 2011 release\, Peace Love and Ukelele\, rose to #1 on Billboard’s world music charts. This\, and subsequent albums (Grand Ukelele\, Travels\, and Dragon)\, showcase the depth and breadth of Jake’s talent and musical explorations\, as he mixes in pop covers with his own intricate compositions. Hoonanea preshow festivities start at 5:30 pm\, with local craft vendors and live music in the courtyard.
