The Rotary Club of Kauai is pleased to announce the 17th annual Old Koloa Sugar Mill Run set for Saturday\, November 9\, 2019 at Anne Knudsen Park\, Junction Maluhia Rd (RT520) & Emi Rd\, Koloa. This is Kauai’s premier 5-Km\, 10-Km\, Half Marathon Runs\, and non-competitive 5-K Walk. The Half Marathon will start at 7:00 A.M.; the 5-K run and walk will start at 7:15 A.M.\, and\, the 10-K run will start at 7:30 A.M. The run will include a breakfast and microfiber T-shirt. Breakfast will be served as the first finishers arrive at about 8:00 A.M. The winners will be announced at about 9:30. Awards will go to overall male and female finishers and medals to age group winners. Classes are limited in size.\nThen on Friday night groove to island music\, while enjoying local delicacies served street-food style along with an outdoor beer and wine garden at The Shops at Kukuiula. This Flavors of Poipu features Kauai Community College (KCC) Culinary Arts Program with a special culinary demonstration at 5:45 pm. SUMMARY:Na Pali Challenge
DESCRIPTION:August 04\, 2019:\nNa Pali Challenge. Each year paddlers from the Hawaiian Islands and abroad gather on Kaua’i for this unique race. It is an opportunity for wahine and kane to come together and race down the enchanting Na Pali Coast. Each team consists of 6 wahine and 6 kane. The two teams take turns in the canoe\, making water changes every 30 minutes. The race begins at Hanalei Bay and will end outside Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor. The course is 36 miles long and runs along some of the most beautiful coastline in the world. http://www.koapaddler.org/

DESCRIPTION:August 03\, 2019 – August 04\, 2019:\nHeiva I Kauai 2019. This is a 2 day dance\, drumming and music competition and exhibition which showcases Tahitian and Polynesian cultures. Competitors enter solo and group dance categories and win prizes for excellence. Vendors sell crafts\, gifts and food. Cultural practices of lauhala and coconut weaving\, Polynesian carving and fireknife dancing\, shell craft\, and lomilomi massage are demonstrated. The event provides a venue for the next generation of Polynesian entertainers to gain performance experience. The event helps preserve and perpetuate Tahitian language\, history\, ledgends\, music drumming and dancing.
