DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, May 1: \n92nd Annual Lei Day Celebration.  The Celebration provides a venue\, where one day of the year is set aside to celebrate the lei and the skill and artistry of Hawai`i’s lei makers.  This event honors Hawai`i’s people and their rich heritage.  The event features the annual Lei Court\, as well as local entertainment and hula halau. Since then\, it has grown to become one of Hawai`i’s premier celebrations of Hawaiian music. The festival celebrates the musical heritage of Waimānalo\, Gabby’s April 22nd birthday\, Cyril’s April 21st birthday\, and offers a special recognition of Cyril. Designed after gatherings remembered from Cyril’s childhood days\, when weekends at the family’s home on Bell Street in Waimānalo were a continuous kanikapila.
