SUMMARY:Eric Gilliom One-Man Show - White Hawaiian
DESCRIPTION:February 07\, 2020 – February 08\, 2020:\nEric Gilliom One-Man Show – White Hawaiian. Eric Gilliom stars in an original one-man theatrical show\, “White Hawaiian\,” co-created by writer/director Brian Kohne (Kuleana). This one man show represents the first collaboration between the pair since “Get A Job\,” an award-winning comedy produced entirely on Maui in 2010. Music lovers may remember their previous work as co-producers of the Barefoot Natives with Uncle Willie K\, which resulted in two award-winning CDs and hysterical sold-out shows in the islands and beyond. Eric Gilliom explores identity through the lens of Hawaiian history\, contemporary culture\, and family\, and this is certainly one show you do not want to miss! Maui’s Eric Gilliom is a recording artist and star of stage and screen\, having appeared in movies\, TV\, on Broadway\, and in concert venues throughout the country. He’s performed alongside legends including Willie K\, Mick Fleetwood\, and Jamie Foxx\, and descends from a family of entertainers. “White Hawaiian” is an original one-man show co-written by long-time collaborator Brian Kohne (Kuleana\, Get A Job)\, and promises to be an evening of storytelling and hysterics audiences will not soon forget. Tickets: $25\, $35 (plus applicable fees; 10% discount for MACC Members)

SUMMARY:Aspen Santa Fe Ballet
DESCRIPTION:January 19\, 2020:\nAspen Santa Fe Ballet. Kahilu Theatre welcomes the return of world-renown dance company\, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet on Sunday\, January 17\, 2020 at 2 pm. Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s bold vision – top global choreographers\, distinctive groundbreaking repertoire\, and virtuoso dancers – has fostered a jewel of a dance company in the American West. The company’s pioneering spirit arises from a dual set of home cities: Aspen\, nestled in the Rocky Mountains\, and Santa Fe\, gracing the Southwestern plateau. Shaping the cultural landscape of these communities – and influencing the dance field at large – is a contemporary ballet company entering its third decade of undiminished creative drive. For their Hawaii Tour ASFB will perform three outstanding pieces from their global repertoire. First\, Where We Left Off choreographed by Nicolo Fonte who has been a guest choreographer for the ASFB since 1999. This piece is an unveiled reference to the decade-long relationship between the company and Fonte as the dance focuses on overcoming anxieties to ultimately find trust in a beautiful partnership. The second piece Silent Ghost\, choreographed by Alejandro Cerrudo\, captivates the heart with its solemn beauty. This sensuous duet weaves through enigmatic emotions and will leave those who watch with the ache of lovesickness. The third piece is 1st Flash by Finnish choreographer Jorma Elo. This energetic piece amalgamates the contemporary spirit while maintaining a sense of drama and elegance. kahilutheatre.org
