SUMMARY:Twilight at Kalahuipuaa
DESCRIPTION:November 09\, 2019:\nTwilight at Kalahuipuaa. Each month during the full moon\, music lovers bring blankets and folding chairs to the oceanfront lawn at the Eva Parker Woods Cottage. Ukulele and guitar players gather on the lanai (porch) to talk story and play their favorite tunes. The stage is humble but the talent is world-class. For over two decades\, the Twilight at Kalahuipuaa concert series has served as a Who’s Who of Hawaiian music. The evening’s performers—kept secret until they take the stage—have included ukulele superstar Jake Shimabukuru\, falsetto songbird Aunty Genoa Keawa\, and master slack key guitarist Cyril Pahinui. One night the legendary Don Ho happened to stroll by and volunteered to play an impromptu set. Often\, the unknown talents offer the most poignant performances: a trio of Parker Ranch cowboys crooning about the joys and heartbreaks on the range or a local lei maker inspired to dance a spontaneous hula. Steeped in genuine aloha\, this intimate kanikapila (jam session) is not to be missed. Twilight at Kalahuipuaa is held every month\, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on the Saturday closest to the full moon.
