It is part of the official qualifier series for the 2014 Ironman Triathlon World Championship in October. The swim is off Hapuna Beach; the bike ride goes on the northern part of the Ironman championship bike course to Hawi in North Kohala; the run is around the Mauna Lani and Fairmont Orchid golf courses and along the historic Ala Loa foot trail.
