Kū Mai Ka Hula
Friday & Saturday, September 8 & 9:
Kū Mai Ka Hula. Featuring award-winning hālau competing in solo and group performances, invitees including hālau from Japan and the U.S. Mainland, as well as Maui, and Oahu. Male and female dancers perform both kahiko (traditional) and `auana (modern) hula stylings. The solo competition will take place Friday evening and the group competition and awards ceremony will be Saturday afternoon. On Saturday, there will be a performance in the Yokouchi Pavilion by the Napili Kai Foundation, Kumu Hula Holoau Ralar, 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Attendees can browse and shop displays of made-in-Hawai`i products from an array of crafters and artisans before and throughout the Friday and Saturday performances.
