Saturday, February 9: 11th Annual Hilo Chinese New Year Festival. Chinese lion dancers celebrate the Year of the Snake 2013 in a mini-Chinatown setting in downtown Hilo. Performances, displays, cooking and cultural demonstrations, martial arts, product vendors show the Chinese influence in Hawaii. Lei Day Celebration
Sunday, May 1: Lei Day Celebration – Hilo. The celebration in Hilo's old Town Square, Kalakaua Park, begins with Hawaiian music, hula, lei-making demonstrations, and features the heritage, history and culture of the lei.
