Hula halau from across Hawai`i and beyond perform in a one-of-a-kind outdoor setting at the kahua hula (platform) in the Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park, located just a short walking distance from the Volcano Art Gallery in Ka`auea. 10:30 a.m. Audience members are encouraged to bring sun/rain gear and sitting mat. Enjoy what our local oceans have.  The ocean-centric meal made during this cooking class will leave you with a newfound love for fish and shellfish.  You will learn seafood cooking techniques from Chef Lee Anderson that you can easily recreate in your home. Carl Anderson will make some cocktails that will pair perfectly with the delicate texture of the seafood.   MENU: Olive oil poached fresh catch with lemon and capers, Seared scallops. . Celebrate the timeless spiritual vision of a valley long recognized as a healing sanctuary. Grandmaster Riley Lee, world-renowned shakuhachi flutist, will issue a call to the pilgrims of the world. The members of Taiko Kaua`i will add their drumbeats to open the event. There will also be a bonsai exhibit, ikebana and calligraphy demos, bake sale, silent auction, as well as mochi and taro pounding, cultural and culinary demonstrations. Please bring an umbrella and wear comfortable shoes for this hillside walk.
