Heiva I Kaua`i 2017

Saturday & Sunday, August 5 & 6:
Heiva I Kaua`i 2017.
  A colorful and exciting Tahitian cultural festival featuring competitions for solo Tahitian dancing for children and adults from age 4 years to 50+, and group competition in traditional and contemporary Tahitian dancing and drumming. An exciting part of the festival is the audience participation in Tahitian dance and coconut husking contests. An interesting array of Polynesian arts, crafts, jewelry, clothing and food will be sold, with special emphasis on Tahitian products.  Kapa`a Beach Park, 4-1604 Kuhio Hwy., Kapa`a.  10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  $7 per person per day, children 12 and under free. Keiki Festival

Saturday, August 5:
Keiki Festival. 
Enjoy a family fun day featuring bounce houses, Kaua`i’s only inflatable zipline, cultural activities, ono food, great entertainment, and so much more.  100% of the event proceeds will support the new Anaina Hou Discovery Island Playground.  The community will also have the opportunity to purchase and paint a commemorative 6×6 tile to be placed in the Playground and viewed for years and years to come.  Anaina Hou Community Park, 5-2723 Kuhio Hwy., Kilauea.  4 to 8 p.m.  $10 admission.  For information call (808) 828-2118 or visit http://anainahou.org/.

Obon Dance & Festival.
  The Obon tradition was brought to Hawai`i by Japanese immigrants and evolved into a social and cultural event, as well as a religious custom designed to honor ancestors through an evening of dance, music and merry-making.  Free.  Festivities and Dance schedules and locations are listed below (subject to change):
