4th Annual Henry Kaleialoha Allen Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival

Friday – Sunday, April 20 – 22: 
4th Annual Henry Kaleialoha Allen Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival.  Honoring one of Hawaii’s Living Legends of Hawaiian Music, Henry Kaleialoha Allen, the festival also features well-known steel players from around the world, Hawaiian cultural enrichment specialists, and guest performers. April Ono! Neil Simon’s “Fools”

April Ono!  Neil Simon’s “Fools”. Set in turn of the century Russia, schoolteacher named Leon Tolchinsky accepts a position in an isolated Ukrainian village. He soon learns that the inhabitants believe that a sorcerer had cursed them with stupidity. Smitten with Dr. and Mrs. Zubritsky’s daughter Sophia, Leon has one day to break the spell, or succumb a life of stupidity! Directed by Lisa Teichner and starring Gina Duncan, John Ziegler, Joel Agnew, Eric Roberts, Allen Cohen, and Genie Calagna. The free ONO! performances are at the Historic Iao Theater, 68 N. Haiku Ho’olaulea & Flower Festival.  Haiku’s largest celebration and fundraiser of the year. The Haiku Ho’olaulea success benefits Haiku Elementary School’s art & enrichment programs. Solo Sessions:  Jerry Santos.  Singer/songwriter Jerry Santos has been a familiar presence on Hawai‘i’s music scene for almost four decades. He teamed up with Robert Beaumont in 1974 to form Olomana. Jerry was instrumental in creating an easily recognizable musical style, blending Hawaiian music with contemporary rhythms. Women Helping Women Annual 5K and 10K Fun Run/Walk

Women Helping Women Annual 5K and 10K Fun Run/Walk.  3rd annual Run Because You Want to, Not Because You Have To run for domestic violence.  Run starts at 8 a.m., registration starts at 7 a.m. The easy flat course starts at the Green Banana Café, 137 Hana Hwy, in Paia and heads towards the airport.  It’s a fun way to help raise funds for Maui’s domestic violence shelter and support programs for victims of domestic violence.  Registration for 5k is $25, and 10k is $35, or free, respectively, with a minimum of $25 or $35 in pledges.  For information call Stacey Moniz at (808) 242-6000 or visit www.whwmaui.net.
